Role Overview

Mercor is hiring American English Professional Voice Actors for a short-term project supporting a leading AI lab.

Participants will help improve AI models’ ability to understand and generate spoken audio by recording high-quality voice data.

Professional voice acting experience is preferred but not strictly required. Individuals with speaking experience in music, television, podcasts, YouTube, Twitch streaming, radio, comedy, or other audio-focused media are also encouraged to apply.

Project Details

  • Project Duration: Approximately 1–2 weeks
  • Start Date: March 9, 2026
  • Time Commitment: 2–10 hours per week
  • Pay: $250 USD per finished hour of recorded audio
  • Kickoff Call: Required before starting

Responsibilities

  • Record spoken audio based on provided transcripts
  • Deliver clear recordings with natural pacing and professional tone
  • Maintain a neutral to upbeat “customer service” voice
  • Follow punctuation and pacing instructions closely
  • Edit recordings when needed to ensure natural speech flow

Requirements

  • Must be born and raised in the United States
  • Native English speaker
  • Ability to maintain consistent pacing and clear pronunciation
  • Strong attention to punctuation and script accuracy
  • Access to a professional home recording setup, including:
    • Professional-grade microphone
    • Soundproofed recording environment
    • Audio interface
    • Pop filter
    • Audio editing software

Contract & Payment Terms

  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote role with flexible scheduling
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on needs and performance
  • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
