Alignerr

AI & Data Training Contractor
Remote (Global) $35 – $70/hr May 26, 2026

Job description

Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)

About the Role

We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help evaluate and improve cutting-edge AI models trained on advanced scientific content. Your expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex biochemical concepts — from protein folding to metabolic flux — making a real impact on the future of scientific AI.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced biochemistry questions and scenarios across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzyme kinetics, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance.
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning.
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, safety, and scientific validity.
  • Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and document logical errors in AI responses — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied metabolic principles — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.

Who You Are

  • Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in progress) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
  • Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in areas such as structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
  • Clear Communicator: Able to translate highly technical biological and chemical concepts into precise, well-structured written explanations
  • Detail-Oriented: High level of precision when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
  • No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
  • Background in scientific writing, peer review, or curriculum development

Why Join Us

  • Work on high-impact AI projects alongside the world's leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — design your own schedule around your existing commitments
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, intellectual variety, and global collaboration
  • Gain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
