Job description

Biotech Health Data Governance Lead (AI Training)

About the Role

What if your expertise in biotech data governance could directly shape how AI understands and handles the most complex, high-stakes scientific data in the world? We're looking for a Biotech Health Data Governance Lead to ensure that research and clinical trial data is accurate, traceable, compliant, and ready to power the next generation of scientific discovery and AI-driven analytics.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role for an experienced professional with deep roots in life sciences, clinical research, or regulated data environments. If you know what it takes to govern biotech data at scale — and you want that expertise to have a real impact on cutting-edge AI — this role is for you.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Govern biotech research and clinical trial data to ensure accuracy, lineage, and auditability for scientific analysis and regulatory submissions
  • Define and enforce data policies covering classification, access controls, security, and metadata standards across research, clinical, regulatory, and partner teams
  • Enable secure, governed access to sensitive data for analytics, innovation, and external collaborations — while rigorously protecting confidential and patient-related information
  • Identify gaps in data quality, traceability, and compliance workflows and implement practical solutions
  • Collaborate with scientific, IT, compliance, and business stakeholders to align data standards and ensure consistent governance practices across the organization

Who You Are

  • Experienced in leading or implementing data governance programs within biotech, life sciences, clinical research, or similarly regulated data environments
  • Deeply familiar with data privacy, security, and compliance requirements specific to research and clinical trial data
  • A natural collaborator — you can bridge the gap between scientific teams, IT, compliance, and business stakeholders to drive alignment
  • Detail-oriented and systematic, with the ability to build frameworks that scale without losing rigor
  • Self-directed and comfortable operating independently in a remote, asynchronous environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training data pipelines
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, HIPAA, or ICH guidelines
  • Experience with data governance tooling — data catalogues, lineage tracking, or metadata management platforms
  • Background working across multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-moving research or biotech environment

Why Join Us

  • Work at the intersection of life sciences and cutting-edge AI — your governance expertise directly enables better science and smarter models
  • Fully remote and flexible — structure your work around your life, not the other way around
  • Freelance autonomy: choose your hours, work asynchronously, and contribute on your own terms
  • Collaborate with world-class AI research teams and life sciences organizations pushing the boundaries of what's possible
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
