Legal Workflow Expert (E-Discovery & Legal Tech)
Job description
Job Summary
Mercor is seeking Legal Workflow Experts (E-Discovery & Legal Tech) to help define and evaluate real-world workflows performed by legal professionals.
In this role, you will break down how lawyers actually use legal technology platforms in practice—going beyond surface-level features to map complete workflows across litigation, contract management, and legal operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Map end-to-end legal workflows within platforms such as Relativity, Clio, DocAssemble, and CLM systems.
- Describe how legal data is handled across stages: ingestion, processing, review, and output.
- Provide detailed, structured workflow breakdowns (e.g., litigation, contract review, document automation).
- Identify decision points, edge cases, and workflow variations.
- Evaluate expected competencies of legal professionals using these tools.
- Produce clear, high-quality written analyses within defined timeframes.
Example Work
- Define workflows in e-discovery tools (e.g., ingestion → processing → deduplication → review → privilege tagging → production).
- Explain real-world legal contexts such as litigation stages, compliance workflows, and collaboration processes.
Tools & Platforms
- Relativity (e-discovery)
- Clio (legal practice management)
- DocAssemble (document automation)
- Contract Lifecycle Management tools (e.g., Ironclad, Agiloft, Icertis)
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the listed tools (multiple is a strong plus).
- Background as a lawyer, legal operations professional, or litigation support specialist.
- Strong understanding of legal processes (litigation, contracts, compliance).
- Ability to articulate detailed, real-world workflows (not just features).
- Excellent structured written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across multiple legal tech categories (e-discovery, CLM, etc.).
- Familiarity with legal data handling (metadata, custodians, privilege, productions).
- Experience in legal tech implementation or process design.
- Background working on complex or high-volume legal matters.
Contract & Payment
- Employment Type: Contract (Freelance)
- Location: Remote (Worldwide)
- Pay: $70 – $80 per hour
- Payments are made weekly via Stripe or Wise.
Note: This is an independent contractor role. Projects may vary in duration based on performance and project needs.
